Time Management Tips - Create a Personal Sanctuary With Solitude

Time management tips can help you shape your quality of life. Ultimately, you determine how to use each moment of your life to promote your balance, your satisfaction, and your productivity. Perhaps you are so busy now that it's hard to assess just how well your time choices are working for you! Maybe you are tired, rundown, frantic, or simply out of sync with yourself. Now is the time to create a personal sanctuary with solitude.

Creating a Sanctuary

Your sanctuary can be very simple. All it really needs is you, free from outside distractions for a certain period of time. You can replenish yourself with stillness.

When you create a quiet space to look within, your time is truly your own. Your shoulders relax. What a comfort to soften into the awareness of how effortlessly your body maintains its cadence of heartbeat and breathing, performing all the intricate dances of sustaining your life.

Your solitude is created by mindfulness, one breath at a time. With practice, you can tune in to the still-point of silence anywhere. But you may wish to set aside a special corner, and collect touchstones that ease your transition inward. You may find that the glow of a candle, a special scent or favorite poem helps you travel within. They may even create paths to precious memories and intuitive awakenings.

What a Personal Sanctuary Provides for You

Solitude helps you directly experience that you are enough. You have enough. Inner peace blossoms within you. Assimilating your wholeness helps you review the rash of demands upon your time from a fresh perspective. Urgency lessens. Prioritizing becomes easier. So does turning down invitations and demands that could clutter your time.

That is why solitude is essential. It strengthens the very core of your wisdom. And strength begets courage. When you dispel that gnawing illusion that you desperately need something dangling just out of reach in the perpetual future, you can make time decisions that are grounded and realistic.

Time and the Timeless in Your Sanctuary

Christin Lore Weber wrote eloquently of inner sanctuary and solitude in her book, The Finding Stone. In one meditation, she wrote:

"I will know the place, It is quiet there... It is the place of my beginning, and the place of my ending. It is where I am whole. It is worth the journey... It is my true self."

Visit this sanctuary often to cultivate your solitude. In its fathomless depths, you touch the magic of the moment, and open the gift of simply being alive.

How can you safeguard your sanctuary, and create a time management plan based upon this deepened awareness?

Time Management Tips For Professionals

There is no easy route in perfecting time management. Although the idea of managing time may sound easy, many people are still finding it difficult to follow.

If you are one of those people who find it hard to follow time management, then here are some tips that you can follow.

1. See the BIGGER Picture

Time is a constant and abundant resource that people can't purchase or sell. It is a resource that can be shared with or can be shared from someone else.

And one effective way of managing it is by visualizing a bigger and clearer picture of your goal. Prioritize more the activities that would put you closer to your objective, and prioritize less those that won't. Carefully assess the tasks that need prioritization in order to accomplish activities that are closely related to your goal.

Many successful people today practice different time management forms and techniques, but if there's one thing these business minded people share in common. It's the vision of how they want to spend their business time.

2. AUDITING Time Management (For Professionals)

Ideally speaking, everything that a person should list and follow should be actively valuable towards their desired goal.

To make your auditing faster, the following are sub-breakdowns that many professionals spend their time on. Personal goals may differ, but the general idea of breaking goals down remains the same.

• People and Managing. Managing people can be sub-categorized in to three different areas namely;

1. Managing time across
2. Managing time up
3. Managing time down

If you're currently working as a leader or as a manager in a company, understand that the best way to spend most of your time is by directly supervising your team or co-workers below you.

This is also an effective strategy of teaching your employees while working your personal professional goal at the same time. Cultivating time-leverage upward not only benefits the team and the company, but it can also benefit you by moving closer to your goal.

3. CHARTS for Time Management

Presently, there are lots of these tips that are scattered all over the internet. The approach may vary sometimes, but believe that the basic idea is still there.

One common tip most time management tips share is in building a chart. Building charts are effective in reminding important plans ahead. Creating charts are also helpful in simplifying time management audits, as well as in pitching the whole picture of your goal.

Building a Chart:

a. Start building your chart by writing down the days and weeks in a month. Across its columns on top, write down your major tasks and goals that needs prioritization.

b. After you complete this activity, record the amount of time you spent under each category. This way you can easily monitor your progress and accomplishments in one day.

c. Try to stick to the plan as much as possible.

d. Avoid over doing it by stuffing to much work in one day.

13 Time Management Tips

If you have ever worked as a school teacher, you probably know how valuable time management tips are. The bell rings every forty minutes and forces you to move on whether you're ready or not. In order for your students to learn what they need to learn within the limited amount of time you have with them, then the limited amount of time has to be spent well.

Effective teachers have good time management tips. These tips help them to manage their workload and handle students in the most efficient way. Just as in the classroom, time management tips can help you live a more effective life so that your life doesn't stall out due to improper use of time.

Thirteen Time Management Tips

1. Think through the task you are about to undertake before you even begin it.

2. Don't take on too many tasks at the same time.

3. Finish one project before starting on a new one.

4. Always strive to finish everything you start.

5. Streamline your paperwork so that you don't waste time on needless duplications.

6. Ask for help. Delegate tasks rather than doing everything yourself.

7. Set aside uninterrupted time to complete a project so that you can avoid distractions.

8. Pay attention to instructions and conversations so that you get the details right from the first time.

9. Before you run an errand, make sure the items you are going for are ready.

10. Schedule your appointments during the morning hours so that you become more organized.

11. Maintain a clutter free home and workspace so that you don't waste time looking for misplaced items.

12. Pick out your outfit for the next morning and have everything ready so that you don't waste your time in the morning.

13. Always keep your gas tank at half full or more so that you don't have to stop when it isn't convenient.

Time is valuable and we often take it for granted. We either have too much or too little. Time is something to be respected and used wisely. Remember the old Twilight Zone episode about the banker who wanted more time? This banker loved to read but his wife wouldn't let him. He had to hide in the bank vault in order to read his precious books.

One day the earth was decimated and he was the only survivor. He stumbled some miles until he came upon the New York Public Library. He was overjoyed because piles and piles of books survived and now he had all the time in the world to read them.

As he bent down to pick up a book, his bifocals fell onto the ground and he accidentally stepped on them. They were smashed. He screamed out into the emptiness, "All I wanted was time!"
